BREAKING NEWS: The multitude of holiday makers on the beaches and at the rivers’ sides of the Northern coast decreased in a considerable way compared to last year because of the economic crisis and the obligation to pay the car parks which the municipal authorities set up in many seaside resorts and on the beaches.

The little flow of local bathers and from the close villages caused a fall of the receipts of the businesses and of the restaurants and hotels keepers.

The tariff of 30 pesos per hour for the owners of vehicles and the elimination of the park places along the road to oblige the owners of vehicles to pay the municipal tax, generated that consequently, the families of Moca, Santiago and other close villages chose to go in Sosúa and on other beaches of the province.

The president of the Development Association of Cabarete, investor Lorenzo Sancasanni, qualified of madness this new municipal measure which created uncertainty and moved away the holiday makers from the beaches of Cabarete.

He said that the director of the District Board, Eddy Morfe, was transformed into fiscal authority by obliging to pay taxes at the time of economic crisis.

The places most attended during the Holy Week holiday were the swimming holes of Damajagua, in Bajabonico, commune of Imbert, where some 27 fresh water swimming holes allow people to enjoy a maximum.

During this time, beaches from Sabaneta de Yásica to Estero Hondo, province of Puerto Plata, remained empty.

The tourism Minister will develop promoting tours

BREAKING NEWS: The Tourism minister, Fransisco Javier García, said that he will develop an advertising campaign and concerts with Juan Luís Guerra and other Dominican artists in order to promote the internal tourism towards the several tourist points of the country.

During a meeting with tourist enterprisers and authorities of Puerto Plata, Sosúa and Cabarete, he explained that the basic slogan was Tourism for everyone, which goal was to establish tours like in other cities in Puerto Plata.

The Minister explained that in partnership with private and public enterprises, clubs and other institutions, buses will be financed.
These ones will come to Puerto Plata in order to welcome the visitors with artistic activities, entirely paid by the Tourism Ministry (SECTUR).

García added that the tourism ministry will bring the necessary resources for the immediate construction of the sidewalks, gutters and asphalting of the streets of Cabarete.

Furthermore, he announced the construction of to car parks that will contribute to avoid traffic jams in the Main Street of this community, and in order to make the traffic more fluid and less dangerous.
